I wonder, and wonder, MWC 2019 is coming, 5G steps closer. 

5G, overlay screen£¬Internet of Things£¬XR, Autonomous car.¡­¡­everything looked as if it had just woken up.

Now I would like to give you a brief report on my personal impressions of the exhibition.

¡¾1¡¿

On the first day, 5G mobile phone and folding screen mobile phone are the hot spots of refresh. 

HUAWEI, OPPO, MIUI, Samsung, LG, OnePlus£¬ ZTE, TCL, LENOVO and other domestic and foreign brands have released new products during the MWC exhibition.

The products are also the center of attention at the exhibition.

But  in the industry, these two hot spots, at present are far from mature, each brand now launched products, greater significance still lies in the strategic card, the real market fight is still very early

Start with 5G phones

£¨1£©It will take time for operators to build 5G networks, and the application scenarios are not yet mature. Even if users get 5G phones, they will be of little use in the short term.

£¨2£©The technology and industry of 5G are not mature enough, and the price of mobile phones will be much higher than that of 4G phones before the market is formed and the capacity is completed

£¨3£©The information revolution brought by 5G  is mainly oriented in the fields of industrial automation, Internet of vehicles, Internet of things, intelligent devices, etc. The performance improvement brought by mobile phones is still difficult to bring obvious experience improvement to users in a short time.

Look at folding phones£º

£¨1£©Folding screen technology is also not mature, not through large-scale market validation, yield index has not reached the ideal stage.

£¨2£©Folding screens require a larger area of flexible screens, which will have more requirement in structure, materials, technology and battery life, pushing up the cost of folding screens.

£¨3£©Due to technological limitations, folding screen mobile phones are difficult to achieve perfection in terms of thickness and bending mode, which will affect users' actual experience.

£¨4£©Users still need to develop a habit of using fold-screen phones.

So, generally speaking, no matter 5G phones or fold-screen phones, although they will be available this year, their prices will be in the high price range that ordinary users cannot accept( for example, Huawei's 5G foldable phone Mate X Procosts more than 17,000 yuan overseas),manufacturers' actual shipments will also be limited.

Growth in their markets is unlikely to start until at least 2020.

Personally, if there's one word that sums up the overall feeling about MWC 2019, it's this: exceed expectations.

First, the heat of the show.

Although MWC has changed its pavilion space in the past two years and the new pavilion area is much larger than before, we still feel overcrowded at MWC 2019.

To say the days of communication industry these years, in fact, not easy£º

£¨1£©With the continuous reduction of traffic charges, and even unlimited traffic package universalization, after the voice business, the operator's traffic management also began to go to the "incremental not income" critical point. The investment scale of 5G will be larger than that of 4G, and the pressure on the performance and financial of operators is increasing.

£¨2£©Operators' woes are also spreading to device makers.Huawei, Ericsson, nokia, zte and samsung have different situations, but faced with zero sum or even negative growth in the industry, it is difficult for their operators to have large-scale growth.

£¨3£©Despite high hopes for mobile phones, both China and the world have been in a downward cycle for the past two years,TOP 5 Manufacturers are barely growing, except for the increase in emerging markets, much of it comes from squeezing the market share of smaller brands.

Under such circumstances, why can the communication exhibition still have exuberant popularity£¿

The biggest reason is that the industrialization and commercial process of 5G has also exceeded expectations.

One mysterious thing is that the communication technology is also known as "big or small year". The development of 1G and 3G is inferior to the development of 2G and 4G, and 5G is often questioned.

Even so, the pace of 5G's development has been accelerating over the past few years, whether through the early freezing of standards, the acceleration of commercial schedules of national operators, or the follow-up of upstream and downstream products.

It's off to a much better start than 4G£º

And the reason for that is£º

£¨1£©Unlimited data plan brought a huge traffic impact  to operators , have to speed up the speed of network upgrade.

£¨2£©The industrial chain of 5G has expanded from the previously closed communication industry to more industrial fields. A large number of enterprises, capital, business and products from these industries have joined the 5G ecology, boosting the prosperity of the 5G industrial chain.

The membership graph of 3GPP organizations is a good example of this trend.

Therefore, in MWC 2019, besides 5G mobile phones, we also see more products and cases in other fields.

And I believe that 5G advances in many verticals will come earlier, deeper and more meaningful than the 5G phone explosion.

At MWC 2019, we see more Chinese power.

No matter the number of exhibitors, their fanfare, the technologies and products they release, or even their leading positions in their respective fields, there are more and more Chinese enterprises.

The changes have even affected details that many people don't notice.

For example,many years ago,  many friends were reluctant to attend MWC, because its opening time often overlapped with the Spring Festival, and if they     wanted to go to Barcelona, they had to sacrifice their family reunion time.

I still remember one year, after finishing the interview report in MWC, I came back to Beijing on New Year's eve, and it was the second day of the New Year   when I got home by train.

Now, we don't have to worry about that anymore. Because MWC has made "avoiding the Spring Festival" one of its necessary preconditions to determine the      meeting time, either before the New Year or after the Lantern Festival.

Just like MWC 2019, which starts on February 25, the 21st day of the first lunar month, there is plenty of time even with the plane and preparation for the   exhibition.

Finally, some fragmentary views.

Due to the early return trip this year, I cannot attend many subsequent conferences and product launches, so it is a pity that I cannot conduct more in-depth observation on the issues I am interested in.

But in my opinion, these issues are worthy of our in-depth consideration and observation of the trend, their changes will deeply affect the entire industry's future direction£º
